The Parish Council membership is represented by 7 allocated seats for Theddlethorpe St Helen & 4 allocated seats for Theddlethorpe all Saints.
To be an elected Parish Councillor & member you will have been either:
Elected (via voting at a contested election)
Elected (via an uncontested election)
To be a Parish Councillor whilst not meeting either of the above conditions then you will need to be elected by the council membership via a co-option process and meet the minimum qualifications set out at the bottom of this page.
In line with guidance from the National Association of Local Councils, prior to co-option a successful council must consider and identify any shortfalls or imbalances of skillsets, experiences & backgrounds within their membership, including consideration given to the future needs of the membership & recruit specifically for them.
The Parish Council shall co-opt to benefit the diversity of its membership & welcomes all backgrounds, experiences and abilities needed to fulfil those gaps within its membership.
When applicants are received, the person co-opted must receive an absolute majority vote by the councillor membership. Where multiple applicants are received for membership then it may be necessary to run a series of votes, removing candidates with the least number of votes.
Good communication skills, problem solving, analytical skills along with being a team player, with a wish to take up an active role, caring for our community are all good attributes.
